Even though these vehicles seem harmless, there are actually thousands of golf cart accident injuries in the United State every year. Golf carts were designed to give golfers the option of driving across an 18-hole golf course as opposed to walking in order to save energy and time. These vehicles are still used for golfing, but are also used at everything from airports to hunting ranches for easy travel.
Although these vehicles are small, they can cause serious injuries if involved in an accident. Reports suggest that half of all golf cart accidents occur on the golf course while the other half happens on personal property and in neighborhoods.
Common Golf Cart Injuries
Golf cart injuries are most common with young male drivers as well as elderly male drivers over the age of 80. One of the most common types of golf cart accidents is a rollover accident. These accidents can cause the following injuries:
- Severe head or brain trauma
- Spinal cord damage
- Fractures
- Lacerations
When operating a golf cart, it is important to always drive safely. Make sure you do not speed, stick arms or legs out of the vehicle, or let children under the age of 16 operate the vehicle.
